Dr. Marr graduated from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and completed a medical internship at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. After two years in the U.S. Army 8th Special Forces Group, he began a twenty-year academic medical clinical and research career and held positions as Professor of Medicine, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. For sixteen years he was a consultant to the World Health Organization on infectious diseases and to pharmaceutical companies on research in purine and pyrimidine metabolism and applications to antimicrobial therapy. He then entered into executive management of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and then was CEO of a publicly listed company. Thereafter, he was a General Partner with an international venture capital firm. He now is retired and devotes his time to family and volunteer work.
