Atikem Hailemariam

Vice President

As Vice President of Business Development, Atikem leads efforts to develop revenue-creating partnerships across multiple sectors and geographies.

Prior to joining Syght, Atikem was the Vice President of Marketing for Opterna, a supplier of fiber optic solutions to leading telecommunications providers. Before joining Opterna, Atikem served as Marketing Manager for Finisar during a period where revenues grew 10X. Both Opterna and Finisar were successfully sold to competitors interested in adding innovative solutions and revenue streams to their portfolios. Atikem also has experience in venture capital having worked for Intel Capital and the International Finance Corporation as an investor. Atikem started his post graduate marketing career at Corning where he helped launch laser optimized multimode fiber which continues to be the key connectivity product for the multi-billion data center industry.

Atikem grew up in Ethiopia and Japan. He received his BA and BS degrees in History, Physics and Systems Engineering from a joint program between Knox College and Washington University in St. Louis and an MBA from the Darden School of Business. He currently lives in Alexandria, VA with his wife and two tweens and enjoys Cross fit, running and consulting on African-related sustainable impact projects.
