Steve is Director of Digital Platforms at Syght, helping develop products and data platforms that deliver high value to our customers, and to Syght. He has over 30 years of applied science, engineering, and product development experience, with a background in applied physics, data storage product development engineering, and data science.

Steve has spent the majority of his career in the data storage industry, with roles including thin-film manufacturing process engineer and manager, lead design engineer for magnetic recording heads, Design for Six Sigma implementer and master black belt, and systems development engineering leader, helping to deliver high-quality products to a world-wide customer base. He has led data science teams developing large-scale machine learning data products and spearheaded program improvement initiatives at Oracle Corporation. He has also worked as an independent consultant in areas related to data process efficiency. He has a passion for helping teams achieve outstanding results that exceed customer expectations.

Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in physics and math (with CS minor) from Augustana College, a PhD in solid state physics from Iowa State University, and an MS degree in Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He is the author of 37 scientific publications and holds 7 U.S. patents. He resides in Colorado and works closely with a local non-profit as a volunteer and board member. He enjoys hiking, skiing, travel, and spending time with family.
